PETREBIŠĆA - INTERNATIONAL HERITAGE CAMP
2017 UČKA, CROATIA
< back
Petrebišća is an abandoned seasonal village of simple stone huts, situated on a high plateau on Učka mountain and surrounded by forest. Since 2010, Dragodid Association, Mošćenička Draga Municipality and Nature Park Učka in collaboration have organized summer workshops in Petrebišća. The goal of
workshops is to transfer knowledge about traditional building techniques to generations of future young professionals. Reconstructed dry-stone buildings and landscape features are to be re-used as hikers’ shelters and open spaces for various cultural events.

During the worshop participants have learned:

- dry-stone basics
- how to shape stone using hand tools
- how to build a dry-stone wall ”from scratch”
- how to repair a straw roof
- how to dig stone slates from a small quarry
- renovate dry-stone village infrastructure
